AVRant #155: Best Buy Time Out

November 19th, 2009

In spite of some technical hurtles (not covered in the podcast but you might have caught the gist on twitter), this podcast come to you relatively on time. Tom is back with about 85-90% of his voice. Most of our topics were generated by listeners (don’t forget to leave your questions at 479.OFF.RANT) and deal with subwoofer size, Best Buy speaker purchases, and buying without listening. What does AVAD stand for? (hint – check back here on Monday to find out.) HDMI CEC – a myth no longer. DJ Hero – coming to Tom’s house as soon as the price drops. And eD’s A5-450 sub kit – is it for you? Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

Maybe THAT'S the room Ian was talking about!

Sorry I didn’t tell you about the whole ‘leaving the room’ thing… Where I come from you don’t post a piece of audio that you haven’t listened to – but I appreciate your trust!

    Didn’t end well? Pot, kettle… kettle… pot… lol. Blenders?

Blenders rock. You don’t know what you’re talking about. http://www.blendtec.com/willitblend/

I have the Def Tech SuperCube III and it ROCKS. Very tight response and will smash your face in, given a chance (Transformers, Iron Man, etc). Fills my 25x14x11 room easily. Filled my previous 50x20x8 room easily as well. It’s amp is potent.

That being said, Def Tech’s reluctance to participate in Audioholic’s speaker shootout would deter me from buying Def Tech again, just on principle.
