AV Rant #463: Wiring Multiple Surround Speakers

December 17th, 2015

This week we thank Grant, Kris, and Jacob for their donations. You are our Listeners of the Week! Thanks guys! In the news, Emotiva announces the XPA Gen.3 amps (LINK), a new Emersa line of ICE amps (LINK), and Airmotiv passive speakers (LINK). How much is your TV watching you? The Wirecutter does the research for you (LINK). Toby keys us in to a DIY speaker project (LINK), Diego tells us how to control multiple identical devices with a Harmony Hub remote (LINK), while Joseph finds another rediculous product from AudioQuest – meet the Jitterbug (LINK and LINK). Ryan reminds us that Atlantic Technology sells B-Stock speakers for cheap (LINK), Tom K. loves his HDHR Viewer and Plex2cvs plugins for PLEX (LINK and LINK), Tom B. wasn’t impressed with PinPoint Universal mounts overall, and Bob reports that his Sony TV’s and Denon receiver’s HDMI-CEC are playing nice together. Grant wants to add five speakers for Auro 3D and Atmos, Mike is curious about the ZTE Axon phone’s claim of Hi-Fi Audio (LINK), and Tom K. has two options for how to spend his money. He’s probably not going to like our answer. Ian has added a third row of seats and wants a second surround speaker to help cover all the seats, Anthony isn’t loving his new 65″ 4K Vizio M Series, and Kris gives us an update and is curious as to what we think is the future of receivers. Timothy loves his Infinity Overture 2 towers but one woofer is making a weird noise. What should he do? Infinite Gary is looking for something more out of his theater and thought a Stereophile article (LINK) might have a point, Jimmy wants to know our thoughts on the Devialet Phantom (LINK – warning .pdf), and Finite Gary is looking for one remote to rule them all. Is the RTI T2X the solution (LINK)? Jacob is considering a refurb but is worried about quality, he also needs a small footprint sub, and Nicholas is looking for a projector and screen to match the performance of his Kuro (Elite Screens AcousticPro UHDSeymour AVEluneVision Reference Studio AudioWeave 4K). Thanks for listening. Now, don't forget to:
