AV After Dark #2: Slow Descent

December 28th, 2009

On this second edition of AV After Dark, we slowly degenerate into cruder humor until Ara pulls the plug. Someone has to be the adult we suppose. Is online the future of content delivery? Tom, Ara, and Braden weigh in. PlayOn – never pay full price. Bitstream or PCM your Blu-ray? Orb Audio – does sex sell speakers? McIntosh is bringing back the boom box. Toilet paper iPod dock – on Braden’s Christmas list. Thanks for listening and everyone have a happy New Year. You can find the HT Guys at their website and AV Rant right here. We really enjoy these collaborations and hope you do too. Thanks to listener Ted for both the Intro and Outro music. Check out more of his work at www.thesysmusic.com.

I enjoyed the latest “After Dark” podcast. Thanks.
Internet tv is a long long way off for the masses…sheesh the “government” had to postpone the implementation of digital tv for 6 months because so many people were not ready and many people are still using some sort of antenna for ota broadcasts…
I laughed at the talk about how many hoops you have to go through to use your varied internet based systems…log into this…back out of that…lol I’ve been using Harmony remotes for years just so I can use the “watch tv” button and watch all my components switch to the proper settings at the touch of one button.
Comcast is currently at was with Fox over money again. For us it will mean a higher cost to watch our favorite programs.
Regardless of the provider and source of signal/show we will be paying a premium to “someone” for the shows we want to see.
It’s all about profits and how much they can squeeze out of the consumer before it is too much.
I love both your stand alone shows and equally “AV After Dark”. Thank you so much.
    Happy New Year,
    Kai

So is anyone else anticipating that the much anticipated Apple tablet computer will work with an Apple TV as a base station to stream audio / video throughout the house wirelessly. No?

I bet they are. I haven’t drank the Apple cool-aid yet. But I have to say, it is starting to smell mighty good…

Oh no! Must resist… Damn you Steve Jobs and your shiny silver devices, so sleek, so cool…. Argh!!!!
