AVRant #56: Beware the Geek

April 3rd, 2008

Tom is becoming more like Dina every day… maybe. Tom has made a difference in HD programming. If you have any requests, let him know. Dina and Tom identify the REAL Ms. Pac-man. Tom’s most hated show is getting picked up. Thanks Ford. Tom identifies the cool part of Lost in Space (the movie). We announce the winner of our Win Tom’s Lobsters contest. Kurt – send your address to Tom and he’ll mail it to you. Tom goes over his Emotiva review. Tom hates the cotton sock and thinks the reviewers that fawn over them are stupid. Reverse psychology can work. How to avoid upgraditius and enjoy your system. Tom is getting a new toy which he uses as an example that aesthetics can play a roll in purchasing decisions. Don’t piss off geeks! Incur our wrath at your own risk! Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

I’d rather see cops on the streets actually protecting us and following up theft reports than handing out speeding tickets.

Until I see no more cops in speed traps, I refuse to accept that they don’t have enough time or resources to follow up on burglary leads.

Of course, we’d all collectively gasp in disbelief if the police actually… gasp… PREVENTED crime.

PS. Rob the Pirate’s email was awesome. We’re giving him something for that effort… he deserves it and I’ve got plenty of giveaway goodies lying around here.

hmm…when are you guys going to give away those 80 pounds of HDMI cables? I am pretty sure Clint is too hooked up by Monster to be using the those right? (BTW long live Monoprice!)

Ye be welcome to the fish, Kurt. Honestly, after 3 months at sea eating only the bounty of the sea, the thought of having to crack open some barnacle encrusted crustacean with me marlin spike just to find something edible is not as romantic as ye land lubbers think.

Now Clint, on the other hand, I like the cut of your jib, lad! Any time I can add to me AV booty without having to pay for it… well, let’s just say, it warms me blackened pirate heart.

A couple of me deck hands have thought that I should be changing me name. At first I thought I could use a name that would strike fear in the heart, like “Dread Pirate Robert”. But I knew of a Dread Pirate Roberts who always looked at me strange, saying “As ye wish”. Well, it would shiver me timbers, but not in a manly pirate sort of way. So I’ll not be tak’n such a name. Then I be thinking that being that I hold a letter of marque from me good Lady, that I should be called Rob the Privateer. It would be a more “politically correct” name. Arrgh, but like that bilge rat Tom, I’ve been accused of many things, but being politically correct has never been one of ‘em. So, Rob the Pirate I was and Rob the Pirate I shall stay!

So beware purveyors of AV treasure, Rob the Pirate is setting sail once again!!! (fade to “Oh, better far to live and die …I am a pirate king!” from The Pirates of Penzance)

I don’t actually have a single Monster Cable in my possession… We’ll be giving away lots of cables I suspect.
