Dina’s got a new friend and Tom makes an old joke. That’s OK, Dina still falls for it. Dina’s got brain damage. Is streaming content the future? Tom and Dina discuss. Tom hates previews. More education about the high def formats (guess we should start referring to it as Blu-ray) is needed. While there are lots of types of compression, the thing to remember is that they are all bad. Geek alert! Want to see if your music has a lot of dynamic compression? Tom’s got a suggestion. Dina’s getting some tattoos… maybe. Universal remotes are your friend. Tom’s friend needs a remote intervention. We talk about The Office (the BBC version) and Dina’s got the name completely wrong (score one for Tom). Dina hates British TV. Dina needs a Monty Python intervention. More and more content is being streamed. This is a good thing. There’s nothing on TV. NYPD Blue FCC ruling. Want to become Internet famous? Write a book (or call us 978.OFF.RANT – we’ll make you as famous as Kurt). Tom said Bill Campbell but he meant Bruce Campbell. Negative 3 geek points. Viral marketing campaigns are the wave of the future. Tom wants a brain beam. Tom makes another old joke (Dina catches this one). Dina says something dirty. Thanks for listening.

I think it would be awesome to see Dina beat the crap out of Tom. Can we arrange the fight to happen at the Disney Resort for this fall’s Audioholics party? *grin* Dina, we’re on your side…

IamAhab on 21 February, 2008 at 3:15 pm

In a fist fight, my money’s on Dina every time. Mainly because she’s packin’ a blade, and Tom’s not.

IamAhab on 21 February, 2008 at 3:44 pm

You guys are right, the general public doesn’t have a clue about blue-ray, or HD. Just the other day, I spent twenty minutes trying to explain to someone that a dvd player that upscales to 1080p isn’t the same thing as a blue-ray player. I don’t even bother talking home theater to people any more because I’m convinced that most people could care less what I have to say, they just want me to tell them how great a deal they got on their bose setup.

1) I don’t know, I’ve got 3 months of Tae Kwon Do training… Ok, yeah, I’m dead… so dead. :)

2) Ahab – Preach it brother. You’re absolutely right. People just want you to tell them how great their $300 cube system is.

BTW – this is comment #1000 on this site. Sweet!

By the way, thanks for friending me Dina. I’m basically internet famous now right?

I almost DIED hearing the outtakes and that “wisecrack that shall not be named.” I was just waiting for Dina to put him on hold, order up a flight down south and come a-knockin’ on Tom’s door…

And it’s BRUCE Campbell (heresy!)

Tom on 22 February, 2008 at 2:44 pm

I was thinking, we should PPV that fight if it ever happens. Come on Dina, I’m waiting for you. Just let me know when you get on the plane so I can get the camera crew ready! :D

Tom on 25 February, 2008 at 1:07 pm

There’s a guy using Audacity right now over at Audioholics. I’m telling you, you can really see the compression!

Matt34 on 25 February, 2008 at 4:08 pm

Dina, your husband has good taste, The First 48 is a great show!

J on 25 February, 2008 at 4:10 pm

Thanks Matt34!

Guys, “The Office” in the UK is called “The Office”. Really.

Tom on 4 March, 2008 at 2:23 pm

That’s what I get for taking Dina’s word for it. Lesson learned ;) .

LOL Soooo right! My Mom has a 37″ Vizio, and once told me the “HD Picture” looks worst than regular tv. Of course I pointed out she has never seen HD on that LCD yet. LOL
