AV Rant #241: Put a Glove On

July 21st, 2011

Sorry about last week. Tom did try. This week we hear about Tom’s adventure in lamp exchange, Liz and Tom weigh in on Google+, and a primer (of sorts) on Spotify. Netflix has changed their pricing, Tom has a new review in the works (Olive 4HD), and a bit on the $600 Receiver Comparison article. This week’s Soup to Nuts is part 4 (of four) of an interview with David Janszen. It’s all about electrostatic speakers. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley! To see our (mostly) complete collection of show videos, click here. Download Tom’s FREE ebook Bob Moore: No Hero which is pretty much available everywhere.

I have never been a big fan of 3D films, but I have to say that Captain American in 3D was very cool. They used more restraint – I felt like they tried to use the 3D effect to create the “looking through the window” perspective rather than the “flying into your face” perspective. Of course, once in a while something does fly into your face, but when it did it was appropriate to the context of the scene. Plus, it helps when the movie itself is a decent popcorn-munching flick!
