We’re at CEDIA and we’ve finally found two minutes to sit down and record a little something. We’re exhausted but don’t worry, there will be more coming soon. Keep checking AVRant for more news. Clint and Tom talk about their first impressions, LED backlighting, scalers, and wireless HDMI. Keep an eye on Audioholics for more news. If you have anything you’d like us to discuss, comment below. Dina will be back (hurricanes permitting) next week. More l8r. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley. Read the rest of this entry >>

From time to time I get emails from people that love me, hate me, or just want to correct me. This time, I got an Email (one of many) wanting me to be more specific about Grayscale and Color Temperature on the podcast. Since I’m not going to do that (I think Dina’s snoring would cut into everyone’s enjoyment) I’m going to let one of you. Kenny’s email was the most thorough and he agreed to let me reprint it here. Clint has a great idea… too late. Some of our CEDIA plans. Nelson has a comment, Tom has a retort. Tom’s got a Westinghouse LCD in for review - he gives a quick preview. Using your wife’s comments in a review is taboo. Bilbo thinks people don’t know what a good display is. Tom agrees. Is ISF calibration for you? Maybe. What is image retention and what do you do about it. Dina’s not stupid. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley. Read the rest of this entry >>

As always, the road to CEDIA is paved with phone calls. Lots of them. You can tell the competency of the PR company by how soon they begin sending product info and inquiring about booth appointments of those going to the show. The good companies (there are only a few of these) prep early and dribble email-based news and phone calls weeks before the show.

The companies staffed with morons who wouldn’t know how to promote a pile of poo to a fly colony, start calling and emailing about 7 days before the event.

This happens every year. Like clockwork. Read the rest of this entry >>

Some shocking news from Tom. A short review of the new Clone Wars movie. Fixing your friend’s TV. What measures well might not be what you think looks the best. A summary of the JVC review. The problem with LEDs. If you sit close to a sub, can you buy a smaller one? Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley. Read the rest of this entry >>
